Saw V came out yesterday, and what a ride it was.

Welcome to the Saw Fan Club! This club is for fans of any (or all) of the SAW movies! Are you a diehard fan of John Kramer? Do you believe that people can change? Do you support the cops in their struggle to end Jigsaw's tests? Are you curious about Jigsaw's apprentices, past, present, and future? Or do you just love Billy the Doll? No matter what your reason may be, this club is for you!



Why?

Why, you may ask? Why create a fan club for a gory movie series? Why support movies in which humans are killed--and not only killed, but ripped apart, and forced to hurt themselves and others?

The answer is: choices.

The SAW movies are about choices that people make. What they've done in the past, why they've done it, how they've justified it, and also how they will choose to act in the future. Is a life worth living, if you're forced to maim or disfigure yourself in order to live it? On the other hand, is it right to choose to not stop, or try to change, people who in their normal lives choose to harm themselves and others?

The SAW franchise brings up powerful arguments about morality, sin, justice, murder, and human nature.

Jigsaw and his apprentices view the world in their own ways; some try to save lives, and others wish to take them away. Why does it matter how other people act? Should humans care about the lives of others?

How can they help other people? What is the place of a civilian in the legal system? Can we rely on law enforcement to keep us safe, or are our lives truly in our own hands?

There are many other reasons as well. The characters, the actors who play them, and the traps are all very interesting, and evoke powerful questions about humanity. Few have survived Jigsaw's traps, and one must wonder...can people really change? Can we save others? Can we save ourselves?

SAW has explored many questions which go largely undiscussed in other dramatic, or horror, movies. It incorporates gore with philosophy, making for a very interesting package, once all is said and done. And the beautiful thing is that SAW, like Jigsaw's work, is far from over.

Contests

The club is not currently holding any contests, though the upcoming release of SAW V seems like a good excuse for doing so. More details will be revealed shortly.
